Catch ya later...

Back from our trip to Michigan. Had a great time. Great time is officially over.

Kids both sick. Fevers steady at 101. Puke count split at Colin: 7 to Sydney: 5. Both sleeping now.

Mommy's not having any fun. Will post with cute little comments about our trip some other time. If you can't say anything nice...

...you get the idea.

It's a beautiful day...

I once read an article by Pulitzer Prize winning journalist & Newsweek columnist Anna Quindlen where she wrote about a particular photograph that she has from when her kids were little. In the picture, the kids were having a picnic in the grass. I believe they were sitting under a hammock. Anyhow--what stuck with me was how she was lamenting the fact that she loves that picture, but it's bittersweet because she can't remember more of what really mattered that day. What the kids were eating. How the wind felt on her face. What they were talking about right before the picture was snapped.

Well, I had an Anna Quindlen moment (I WISH I were half the writer!) today. I was out in the perfect New Hampshire 65 degree spring weather doing "airplane rides" with the kids. And suddenly my heart hurt because I realized that there will come a day when not only am I not going to be able to lift them in the air on my feet & hear there hysterical giggles...but they won't ask me to anymore. So here's my best attempt at making sure that doesn't happen.

And for the record, we were talking about water balloons right before we took the pictures. And when Colin first got up in the air for his first turn he said "hold on, I need to go pee first!" and Sydney asked to get down real quick so that she could go get some string cheese. So typical. So perfect. So blessed.

Hope you all had a moment like this somewhere in your day today.

GOBBLE GOBBLE!!

Warning--this post will make SO MUCH MORE SENSE if you read the one below from earlier today FIRST.

Okay. Let's continue. Just looked out the window. There's a TURKEY at the birdfeeder. A frickin' turkey, dude!!!

Between this and all of the really cool birds that have come into the yard today...I'm just saying that I don't even think I'll be shocked if I look out there tomorrow morning and see an emu feeding in the rock garden. And then tomorrow's post will go something like, "there was an EMU at the birdfeeder this morning. A frickin' EMU, dude!!".

tweet, tweet

We put up a couple of birdfeeders yesterday. The kids have always loved the ones that my parents have, and love to go out with their Grandad to fill them. They helped pick the feeders, the spot, the food, the whole nine yards.

They were pretty into it at first, but then had forgotton all about it by dinner. I went ahead and assumed that this was another one of those things that was going to fall horribly short of the expectations the kids had put on it all. (the birds aren't gonna come sit on your shoulder JUST because you gave them some sunflower seeds, ya know?)

BUT THEN, this morning--- there were like a dozen beautifully colored birds (& some of the old gray standbys) out there just having a party.

And it was like Disney World moved into the yard overnight & Santa Claus was out there having tea with the Easter Bunny. I swear, it was just like that.

Say it isn't so...

...I actually got right on here! Well, let's hope that means that the little tantrum this website was having in my direction is over. As promised yesterday, may I present to you....

.....WACKY HAIR DAY!! God bless elementary school and the shenanigans therein.

In my defense--no, in the defense of my poor kids--it was like 7:30 in the morning when this video was taken. For the record, no one was hung over. It just seems that way. Enjoy.

Can it be TRUE???

Am I really posting? I have for-some-unknown-reason-that-has-been-quite-frustrating been unable to post here for the past month. Like, can't sign in. Can't get past the front page. No entry. Denied.

And while I now have tons of backlog to report, I also have no time. Hopefully, this isn't a "fluke" and we're good to roll tomorrow. It is, after all, WACKY HAIR DAY at school for the kids. Should provide for some cute pictures!

YAY! We're BACK!!!
